Maybelline Colossal Chaotic Mascara Review

Hi all! I know that I just did a mascara review last week, but I couldn’t wait to share my thoughts on the Maybelline Colossal Chaotic Mascara. I purchased it in the waterproof version. This product has been out for awhile now, but am now just getting around to testing it out. I am going to quickly list the things that I liked about this product and the things that I don’t. I will also let you know if I will repurchase this or not.

LIKES

Formula- just wet enough, but that is all I liked about it

Brush- shape is easy to get inner and outer corner lashes

Color- very pigmented and black

Application- applies easily but can’t be layered too much

DISLIKES

Clumps- For myself, it clumps and volumizes but it doesn’t look very nice.

Messy- this gets all over my lids when applying, I’m still using it and it some how ended up on my cheek!

Wear- After awhile it does flake a bit. I notice little black flecks around my eyes.

Sensitivity- irritates my eyes on occasion, happens when it flakes

For me, I am not a fan of this product. While I do like the shape of the brush and the consistency of it, it is not my absolute favorite formula. I am also going to try with a lengthening or a lighter everyday mascara first and then layer this on top and see how it affects the wear. This may be your favorite, but it is not mine, and that’s ok! I’m here to share my opinion on different things. I love that different things work for different people and when the same things work for different people, that’s awesome too! Have you tried this mascara out? What are your thoughts? I would like to hear them! Have any tips on how to apply without it getting all over your face?  Rating: 5/10

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Hi gals! So for today’s post I’m sharing with you my thoughts on Rimmel’s Stay Matte Foundation. It is a liquid mousse foundation. I purchased it in the shade 091 Light Ivory, which is the second to lightest shade. It comes in 8 different shades, Light Porcelain being the lightest and Sand being the darkest shade. Now I did give kind of a mini review/first impression of this product on my MOD: Blackhawks Parade and Rally post.  For this review I’m going to list the claims and then state yes or no and any reasons, and then give my numerical rank out of 5.

Rimmel Stay Matte Found

CLAIMS

Liquid Mousse: Yes. It comes out of the tube like a mousse and when applied to the skin it liquefies and just glides across the skin.

Light Weight: Yes. Until the heat took over, then it felt kind of sticky.

Oil Free: Yes.

Shine Control: Yes.

Blends well: Yes.

Natural Matte Finish: Yes. I loved the finish of this product.

Minimize Pores: NO. I’ve tried this with and without a primer, in high heat and just plain ol’ every day. I could see my pores both ways.

A couple of other things:

I went out to eat and when I wiped my mouth it kind of peeled/rolled off my face. It was kind of strange. It also didn’t stay all day. I was surprised to see hardly any foundation on my makeup wipe. I also want to say that I do tend to have much oiler skin in the summer months and thought that this would be a good solution, however, my skin was still too much on the dry side. This foundation clung to my dry spots as the day wore on. I feel that if you have true oily skin you will like this. If you have combo skin, this may or may not work for you.

Final Rating: 3/5

First Impression and Review: Ulta Amped Lashes

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on Ulta’s Amped Lashes mascara. It claims to add volume and define your lashes. I have it in Jet Black and in the regular formula. I got this from a kit that you get when you spend so much on an Ulta brand purchase. If bought on its own, it costs $10, is slightly more than drugstore price but definitely comparable. I have to be honest when I went to use this, I was really nervous. I was in the middle of a show and had to put mascara on and my other mascara ran out! I was pleasantly surprised.

Ulta Mascara

Formula and Wand: The formula is a cream formula. It’s a little on the thick side and thought I was going to end up with clumpy lashes. When I pulled the wand out, a ton of product came out. I just wiped the excess on the inside edge of the tube. The wand is a rubber, tapered wand. I really like the tapered end because I can really get to the tiny lashes on the inner and outer corners. I had used a different mascara that had a rubber wand and it was really flimsy. This wand is much more sturdy and doesn’t bend in any direction.

Ulta Mascara Wand

Claims: The mascara tube says volume and defining mascara. I somewhat agree with these claims. It didn’t volumize my lashes very much. While many women want to have huge volumized lashes, I think that during the day the a more natural appearance is appropriate. If having full on large lashes and adding falsies is your thing, then do it!! I love the look but it is not for me for a casual day to day schedule.

Ulta Mascara Before after

With the first swipe, I knew I had found my every day mascara. It gave just a nice natural bump up length wise without the over the top length. I love the wispy look it gave my lashes. I have to say that it did not flake throughout my performances. I put it to the real test when I headed to the Chicago Blackhawks parade and rally. It was 80 plus degrees outside and the humidity was intense. I put it on at 8 am and took it off at 8 am. Yes with the intense heat and humidity, and 12 hours later the mascara was still there and looked almost as good as it did in the morning. There was a little bit of flaking but that could also have been because of rubbing my eye a little bit.

I’m giving the Ulta Amped Lashes Volumizing and Defining Mascara an 8/10.
