2017 Empties: Makeup, Nails and a Few Randoms

Hello lovelies! Welcome come back to the final installment of my 2017 empties! I really enjoyed seeing everything that I’ve used up in the last year. I know a lot of the items that I’ve used up over the course of the year have been sample sizes. Many of them I’ve received them in my monthly Sephora Play box. I don’t know about you, but this girl is on a super strict budget and not able to buy the full sizes of many of these products. There have been a few that I absolutely fell in love with and did go out and purchased the full size. Before I continue rambling on and on, lets jump in the makeup and random bits that I’ve used up in 2017.

I used up three primers this year. First one is the Benefit Porefessional primer. When I first started to use this it blurred my pores and made my foundation and skin look amazing. After a little while, either my skin changed or it just didn’t like working with the foundations that I was using. It consistently made it look like my foundation and nose was peeling. It looked dry and patchy and just stopped working for me. The next two primers are by Hourglass. The first one being the Hourglass Veil Mineral primer. I love, love love this! I purchased this and wish that there was a size between this and the full size. I would purchase that in between size, but the largest size I feel would go bad by the time I would be able to use it all. The other primer is the Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Mood Light. I really liked this primer, I am still on the fence as to whether or not I would repurchase this. It made my skin look nice and radiant, but I’m not sure it is worth the money.

I used up five mascaras. I used up a sample of the Benefit They’re Real mascara and the Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Lash mascara. They’re Real I liked, this would be close to my holy grail status, but I think I can find something better for me. The Smoky Extravagant Lash, I really liked, but this constantly got all over my cheek and my lid when applying. The next mascara is the CoverGirl The Super Sizer mascara. This is easily a YouTube made me buy it item. I have a love-hate relationship with this item. I liked the mascara but there was just way too much product on the brush. The brush is super tiny and the mascara would get all over the place. I want to like this as a whole but the brush really made it difficult to. The last two mascaras I just did not like and definitely would not repurchase. They are the Maybelline The Falsies Pushup Drama mascara and the L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar mascara. The Maybelline mascara I just did not like at all. It didn’t do much for my lashes and I think the formula was a little too heavy for my lashes. The L’Oreal mascara, I liked without the first step. I think if they sold it as just a plain mascara and not a 2-step product, I would consider repurchasing this.

The last two makeup items which are both holy grail status items for me are the Maybelline Brow Drama in 100 Deep Brown and the Urban Decay All-Nighter makeup setting spray. You’ve seen both of these in some of my monthly favorites. I love both of these items. I have repurchased both of them, and will probably continue to repurchase them forever.

The last group of items that I’ve used up or decluttered, some have already repurchased and some just won’t be purchased again. The items that I will not be repurchasing are the E.L.F. lip scrub and OPI nail polish in the shade shown. I forgot to write down the name of the shade and I’ve already thrown it out. I also won’t be repurchasing the OPI base coat or the E.L.F. face brush. The base coat didn’t do much to help make my nail polish left. The E.L.F. brush just didn’t work well with multiple products, it is however, very soft and if it didn’t fall apart on me and actually work, I would definitely repurchase this brush. I also think that I wouldn’t repurchase the Nivea lip balm. I liked it but I have my holy grail won’t use any other lip balm for the rest of my life, and I have about 10 backups of those.

These products are the ones that I will repurchase over and over again, and will remain in my collection for a long time. First up is the Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover, love this and will repurchase this again and again. I also really like the Red Carpet Brilliance gel coat. This is a declutter item. The brush somehow split and the polish got too thick for it to even use. My holy grail toner, probably will never try out another one, actually never say never, but you get the point The Tea Tree Toner Water. I love, love, love this. I’ve probably have purchased at least 5 bottles of this since I started using this. Last but not least is probably my biggest standout item of 2017. It is the Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It hairstyler. This has helped me get my hair back to its natural state. Ever since I’ve started using this and stopped straightening my hair and blow drying it, my hair hasn’t been better. I originally got a sample of this in a Sephora Play box, and I ordered the full size during the VIB Sale.

That’s everything! I hope you enjoyed this series. I mentioned at the beginning of this post that many of the items throughout this series are samples or deluxe sample sizes, but fear not! I have a huge haul post coming soon! I’ve been wanting to dive into everything that I purchased, and with the exception for one item, I haven’t touched any of the items. When I mean huge haul, there may be more than 3 eye palettes in there too. I hope you all have had a great start to your 2018. Have a great week!

Natural Glam Holiday Look

Hello lovelies! Welcome back! Today I decided to share with you my natural and pretty simple to do holiday look. This is a great way to amp up your day to day look, and works for an office setting. I also think you can accomplish this look in less than 15 minutes! Yes, I said it! This look can be completed pretty quickly.

For my look, I used the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation in 365C soft beige. I then did my brow with the Maybelline brow drama in deep brown. I then touched up a couple of bare spots with the E.L.F. brow pencil in neutral brown.

On my eyes I used Foxy all over the lid, and Bootycall on the inner third of the lid, from the Naked 2 palette. For liner, I used the Kat Von D ink liner in trooper. This and the lips probably took the most time for me. If you prefer a pencil liner use that. Use whatever you are comfortable with. Another option would be to wing out your liner. I attempted and it just wasn’t happening for me today. On my lashes I used the Urban Decay Perversion Bigger, Blacker, Badder mascara.

I used the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in Dollface. I think this is the perfect wintertime blush shade. It may not look like it in the pan, but for me it is the perfect natural flush shade. For highlight I used Tarte’s Amazonian clay highlight in exposed highlight. I finished off the look with the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink lip color in 20, Pioneer. This is the perfect red that anyone can pull off, and it makes your teeth look whiter!

That’s everything that I used for my natural holiday glam look. I hope you enjoyed this look. If you want to see me do other makeup looks let me know what you would like to see. Have a great Monday and I’ll see you in my next post.

My Go to Fall Look

Hello lovelies! Welcome back! Today I’m sharing my go to daytime look for fall. I’ve worn this look running errands, going to work and everything in between. With this look I am able to complete it in about 10-15 minutes.  If I’m running really late, I will eliminate a few steps, such as the eye brow pencil, the eye shadow, and sometimes even the mascara.

On my face:

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer
  • Becca Backlight Priming Filter
  • Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation in Soft Beige

On my eyes:

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden
  • Mac eyeshadow in Soft Brown
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Perversion in the water line
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

On my brows:

  • E.L.F. brow pencil in Neutral Brown
  • Maybelline BrowDrama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Deep Brown

On my lips:

  • Blistex Silk & Shine Lip Balm

  • NYX butter gloss in Creme Brulee

  • Maybelline Color Jolt Lip Paint in 05 Stripped Down

I’ve been bouncing around between the three different lip options. For the most part I would choose depending on the happenings of the day. If I’m going to work during the day I’ll opt for the lip balm or lip gloss. If I am working an evening even I will go for the lip paint.

That’s everything for my everyday fall make up look.  What is your go to look? Have you already written a post about it? Share it in the comments. I would love to check it out. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you in my next post!

September: The loved and unloved

Hello lovelies! I’m starting something kind of new. The loved and unloved is going to be my favorites series. I haven’t decided on how often I will do this type of post, but will do this at least on a monthly basis. My intention with this type of post is to share with you the things that I am loving the most. When it comes to the things that are considered to be unloved, they are going to be comprised of things that are good products but didn’t work for me, and products that just didn’t work for me and I think wouldn’t work for anyone else. If you love any of the items that I’m not a fan of, let me know how you use it! I may be using it completely different and that could be why it won’t work for me. Now that I’ve given you all of that info, let’s see what I’ve been loving and not loving for the month of September.

THE LOVES

First up I have the combination of Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in the Matte+Poreless and the Dewy+Smooth formula. More often than not when you hear someone mixing foundations they are two different brands and two different formulas. For me this combination is amazing. I put the a very small amount on my forehead, chin and a bit on either side of my nose. The rest of my face I’ll use the dewy+smooth formula. I’ll apply both formulas with a beauty blender and sometimes use a brush when I’m in a rush.

Next up is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion. I forgot how much I loved this liner. It is super black and lasts forever. Sticking with eyes, I am also loving the E.L.F. HD Under Eye Powder. This keeps my under eye concealer on all day, it doesn’t allow the concealer to crease, and dare I say it my holy grail?! For lips I have been loving the Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in 05 Stripped Down. This color is the perfect, my lips, with a hint of pink, but better shade. It lasts a decent amount of time and fades nicely.

The last two items are a perfume and a hair product. The perfume I have been loving the last month is the Dolce and Gabbanna Light Blue. The scent is light, flowery yet has a deep, sexy scent within it, creating a nice day to night balance. Now for the hair product, I have absolutely been loving the Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow it (H)air Styler. I have never loved a hair product so much in my life. I’ll be honest with you guys. When it comes to hair, I just don’t know what to do, or I’m lazy, or a combination of both. So when I decided to pull the Don’t Blow It styler out of my stash, after the first time I used it, I knew I was going to repurchase it in the full size when I used this small tube up. This is the only thing that will keep my hair in its natural state all day and easily into the next day. I have been searching for years, and I mean well over 10 years for something like this.Thank you Sephora Play box for this little gem!

THE UNLOVED

Since I talked on and on about everything that I loved I will keep my unloved short and sweet. First up is the Lancome Visionnaire Yeux Eye on Correction eye balm. It’s a nice eye cream, however it’s too thick for my under eyes and there are small particles of glitter in it that you can see on your skin. So for that reason I would not repurchase this. The other eye area product that I am not a big fan of is the Maybelline the Falsies Pushup Drama Mascara. The formula itself is not clumpy, but when applying it clumps my lashes together. The other issue I have with this is that when I try to apply on my outer lashes or close to the root, almost always there is mascara on my cheek or my eyelid, or I poke myself in the eye. Ouch!

The last couple of products are for the face. There is the Farmacy Skin Dew and the Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial. There are a couple of reasons why I am not a fan of the Farmacy Skin Dew. For one, the spray is fairly aggressive, and leaves quite a bit of the product in large droplets on my face that take awhile to sink in to the skin. If you use this to refresh your makeup, it will ruin your makeup by leaving droplets all over your face. Now for the Korres sleeping facial, this is heavily scented and it lingers on your skin all night. I use this only at night and when I go to sleep I can smell before I go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning, the scent is still there.

Well that’s everything that I have loved and unloved for the month of September. What have you been loving this last month? What should I try out? Are some of the products that I’m not a fan of your favorite? Tell me how you use it and why you like it. I would love to hear from you. Have a great day and see you in my next post.

Happy Fall!

Project Pan and Products to Use Up in 2017 Update

Hello lovelies! Today I’m back with a long overdue update on the products that are in my project pan and products that I want to use up in 2017. I have used up a few items and made some progress on others. There is one item that I am just getting rid of because it just got old and smells weird.

Let’s start with the one item that I’m just getting rid of. I’m getting rid of the Victoria’s Secret Noir Tease. I’m getting rid of it because the scent changed and just doesn’t smell right. So because of that I’m no longer going to hold on to it.

The next few items are products that I have used up. I have used up the Benefit Porefessional Primer, the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, the Nivea A Kiss of Mint and Minerals Lip Balm, Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash, and the Aveeno Skin Relief Gentle Scent Lotion. I know I haven’t used up nearly as many items as I would like. The summer has been really hot, and I’ve been in the pool a lot. For me, it just didn’t make sense to put on make up and take it off an hour later.

The rest of the items I have made minimal progress. Like I said I haven’t worn much makeup over the summer and just recently started putting on a little bit of makeup in the last month. I mentioned in another post that in the Chicagoland area we are still in the 80s, which is basically give me the sunscreen and ditch the makeup.

The next group of items that I will probably finish up by the end of the year. I should be able to finish up the E.L.F. HD Under Eye Setting Powder, Maybelline The Falsies Push-Up Drama Waterproof Mascara, NYX butter gloss in Creme Brulee, Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover, OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian, and MAC All That Glitters eye shadow. I will let you know of Instagram if I finish up anything between now and my next update.  If there is anything that you want to see progress on that I’ve shown in the past, let me know.

I think that’s everything for today. If you would like for me to continue doing posts like these, let me know. I would love to hear from you! Have a great weekend! I will see you in my next post.
