Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm ~ Review

Hello lovelies! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. I have used this on and off for the last few months. Anytime that I am wearing face and eye makeup I’ll use this. The claims to this product are:

  • breakdown and remove makeup and sunscreen
  • non-greasy
  • lightweight
  • doesn’t strip the skin
  • safe for use around eyes
  • fragrance free

I completely agree with all of the claims. I’ve used this quite a lot on my eyes. It does not sting my eyes. It will slightly fog up your vision if it get too close to your eyes. My eyes are extremely sensitive so it does bother them if that happens, but only for a moment. Any uncomfortable feeling is gone the second it is rinsed off.

In order to actually use this product, I like to start with a small amount about the size of a quarter to avoid using too much and going through it too quickly. If I need any more I will slowly add a pea size amount. I apply this to dry skin and spend about 1-2 minutes massaging my face and making sure that all of my face makeup has been broken up before I move to my eyes. After gently massaging my eye for another minute or two I rinse with warm water. There is no residue left behind on my skin, which is nice in a pinch. For example, I was way too tired and feeling especially lazy one night. I used this and went straight to bed. I did wake up with oilier skin than I normally do, but I didn’t find that to be a negative point.

I did find one somewhat downside to this product, which I don’t think is really a huge deal. If you don’t massage this all over your face long enough, it will not remove makeup or work as well as it can be. Take the time to really work it in and allow it to brake down the makeup on your face. It also won’t completely get rid of hard to remove waterproof mascara, but it will get rid of a good amount of it.

I would give the Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm 9/10. I gave it a 9 because it really is a fantastic product but I feel like there is a tiny something missing. I will definitely repurchase this when I run out. I’ve used up about half the tub so far. I have used other methods for makeup removal and this so far has been the most gentle way so far.

That’s everything! I hope you enjoyed my review on Clinique’s Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. I have plenty more product reviews coming. If there is anything that you want me to review please let me know. Thank you for coming back to read my posts. I hope you have a great weekend!

Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil First Impressions

Hello everyone! Today I thought I’d share with you my first impressions of the Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil. I received this as part of a Sephora Play box, and I have had yet to use it. This is supposed to be your multi-use cure everything oil. You can use this on your body, face, and I think if you have extremely dry hair, I think this would work well on the ends too. The oil has has grapeseed and avocado oils, grapefruit peel, tangerine peel, mandarin, lemon peel, and other essential oils. It has a beautiful citrus scent, and the lemon is very prominent. The scent alone has me hooked.

I put a small drop in the palm of my hand and dipped my cuticles in it. I rubbed it in and it sinks in within a few seconds. There is no residue on my fingers and the oil doesn’t transfer on to anything that I touch. You can smell it a bit if your hands are near your face but it isn’t overpowering. When put into the bottom 2-3 inches of my hair, it adds moisture and smooths it out.  I think my hair isn’t as dry as I thought it was because the ends looked slightly oily, but not bad. I would suggest to just put this lightly on the ends of your hair.

I think just about everyone would love using this in some capacity whether you use it on your body, face or hair. I chose not to test this out on my face because the skin on my face tends to be sensitive to certain things. Those are my thoughts. If you are interested, I suggest that you grab a sample first. If you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend that you test it out first before you purchase it. I do think that this is a good all around product and you should definitely check it out. That is all for today. Have a great weekend!

CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara Review

Hello lovelies! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the CoverGirl Super Sizer mascara. I saw this mascara everywhere! Instagram, YouTube, etc. Since I saw this everywhere, I waited and waited and when I finally got my hands on it, it took me forever to actually get around to using it. I have now been using this on and off for the last couple of months. Honestly, I have a love hate relationship with this product.

left: w/ mascara right: no mascara
left: w/ mascara right: no mascara

Formula: I love the formula. It glides on easily and it definitely can be layered without getting too clumpy. Tip: If you layer on too much to the point where it gets a little too clumpy, use the CoverGirl Clump Crusher and it fixes the situation.

Application: It says to twirl the wand to apply to your lashes. I can not do this for the life of me! Do any of you have the same problem? I apply this just like how I put on any other mascara. No matter how I applied the mascara, this ended up everywhere!

What is that?! Mascara all over my eyelid.
What is that?! Mascara all over my eyelid.

Longevity: This lasts as long as you don’t cry, rub your eyes, or sweat a lot.

Overall Score: 4/10; I like the formula, but that is where it ends. When I opened up the packaging, the wand was bent, it smelled a little funny and the application was literally all over the place. The lasting power is good, but not the greatest. I feel like this mascara you either love it or hate it.

Covergirl Clump Crusher Review

Hi lovelies! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara. I know I’m way behind on this mascara. I’ve had this stashes away until I went through a couple other opened mascaras first. I purchased this in 800 very black and surprisingly, NOT in the water resistant formula.  First, let’s take a look at what the packaging claims that this product will do.

  • 20x volume
  • zero clumps
  • curved brush is supposed to cover the lashes with product
  • the fine tooth bristles are supposed to help distribute mascara evenly through the lashes

I love the green color of the tube, and the wand is the same color(until you put it in the mascara). I find the tube somewhat ergonomic, alongside the curved wand, makes it extremely easy to apply this mascara. Immediately I noticed that the formula is somewhat wet. I’ve noticed that when I first use a mascara that is kind of wet when I first open the tube, I love it even more when it dries out a little bit. The lasting power of this for day to day is pretty good. It will last all day with no flaking. However, I wore this on a pretty hot day and it did seem to sweat off a bit. That does seem like a down side to this but it gave my lashes a little oomph and a nice natural look.

I would slightly compare this to my favorite all time mascara, the Benefit They’re Real Mascara. While that is my all time favorite mascara it does tend to clump slightly on my lashes. It is also a bit over the top with the lengthening and volumizing for a day time and day to day wear for what I do. The Covergirl Clump Crusher is the little sister to the They’re Real. It is definitely great for day time wear.

Overall, I would say that this mascara does what it says. It is great for gals of all ages. It is great for day to day wear. It layers well. You can put a light layer for the office and layer it up for a night out. I would definitely recommend this mascara to friends and family.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation Review

Hi all! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour with Comfort Serum. It does have an SPF of 20. It is marketed as a full coverage, skin perfecting foundation. I purchased this in 091 Light Ivory. I couldn’t decide between this shade or the next shade up. The Light Ivory is still a little light for my skin, but since we are heading into the winter months it should work just fine.

The claims on this product is that it is long lasting, transfer proof, and full coverage for flawless looking skin. After testing this out for the last couple of weeks in a variety of situations and events. The longest I wore this was about 10 hours. It lasted that entire time. There were a couple of spots where it wore off a bit, which was to be expected, but it did last all day. I mentioned before that this was a little light for my skin tone, however by the end of the day it matches almost perfectly. Yes this does oxidize a bit but not so much that by the end of the day you look like an Oompa Loompa. I don’t believe anything is completely sweatproof, but this foundation comes pretty darn close.

I apply this with a beauty blender and it does thin out the formula a bit, so it becomes more of a medium coverage foundation, considering it wears well, I don’t mind. If I get to warm, it does start to feel little strange on the skin, but it still looks pretty good.

I would rate this foundation as an 8/10.

Have a great day!!
