Project Pan Update #1

Hello lovelies! Happy Labor day! I have to be honest, when I started this project, I was extremely determined and motivated. I have not purchased anything new, but I haven’t made the greatest effort in trying to use up the products. This is also why I have given myself until the end of the year to finish 10 out of 15 items.

First off, my Rimmel soft kohl eye pencil went missing after a week or so. It has been replaced by my Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Onyx. I originally received this in a Smashbox sample set. Like the Rimmel eyeliner, I’ve had this for well over 2 years.

IMG_1781I have used up my Garnier Blackhead Eliminating Scrub. I definitely loved using this and plan on purchasing it in the full size soon. My skin has been acting up a bit, but think it is due to me working out and sweating more.

IMG_1777The above products are almost gone and I’m definitely working on using them up. When I saw that my first update was quickly approaching, I became motivated to use everything again.  The few products that are almost gone I truly love them and using them. That is my progress of my products. I am hoping that I will use up more items in the next month. Once again I am hoping to use up at least 10 out of 15 of these products, before I purchase anything just for the sake of buying it. Have any of you started a project pan? What is out there or coming out soon that I should get my hands on? Have a great week!

Project Pan 2016

Hello lovelies! I got today’s post idea from Ashley Elizabeth on YouTube. I’ll link her channel down below. She doesn’t know me, she has no idea who I am and doesn’t know that I’m doing this post.  Disclaimer: I would say if you’re under the age of 18 some of her videos would be considered inappropriate for your viewing, and there is also some language that some may not appreciate. The one thing that I love about her is how she says whatever she is feeling and just doesn’t care what everyone else is saying or doing.

The idea of a Project Pan is to use what you have. These can be products that you’ve had for a couple of years or just sick of having around but don’t want them to go to waste. You choose at least 10 products, decide how many products you want to finish and set a time frame. For products that you may have a full container of, it may be a good idea to set a goal of getting through half of it. It’s also a good idea to mark where the product is at the very beginning.

I’ve decided to do this to get some use out of my products, and I’m finding myself wanting to purchase new items. I have a limited amount of space for everything and this is my way for creating space for new things. I’ve been on a no buy essentially the last few months but I haven’t exactly been using what I have. I’m going to continue my no buy through the next few months, with the exception of a few items that I will need. I do also receive the Sephora Play! box monthly, so those will also be new products that I will be receiving.

Since this is my first go at this Project Pan and I am giving myself a longer time frame than most people would probably choose. I’ve chosen 15 products to go through starting today August 5th, and I’m giving myself until December 5th to use up or hit pan on at least 10 products. I will give an update every month to track my progress. Most of these products I have had for about 2 years or longer. I know not the most sanitary but these things haven’t gone bad yet. I also realized that quite a few are hard to track how much is left and the rest I’ve marked.

April Play! by Sephora Unboxing

Hello lovelies! For the past year or so, I had been patiently waiting for Sephora to release their Play? subscription box to the rest of the country. When I received the e-mail to join the subscription, I was definitely super excited. At the time to sign-up for the box, it is by invite only. I’m not sure if it is open to everyone yet, but I’ll keep an eye out and find out for you. For $10/month plus tax, which for me was less than a dollar, you get a box of 5-6 deluxe sample sizes of different products. You must subscribe for the monthly box, and it is not available for a single month purchase.

The theme of April’s box is ‘The It Crowd.’ When I first opened the box there is the little booklet that lists everything that comes in the box. Each product has a description of what it is and explanation on how to use it. The booklet also provides some information of what you can pair each item with. Lastly, the back page includes a Play Pass that can be brought into a Sephora location for a one on one session. If you bring in this card and make a purchase you will also receive a bonus of 50 points. Let’s get into the products!

When I opened up the tissue paper the first thing that I noticed was the Milk Sunshine Oil. I haven’t gotten really into oils because they honestly scare me a bit. I am looking forward to try this multi-purpose product.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby 2am Kiss- This brand is relatively new to Sephora. I’m usually not excited when I receive perfume samples, but based on the description of this scent, I think I may like this. It is described as a blend of “salty woods and crystallized amber.”

Clinique Pep-start Eye Cream- I’ve been really wanting to step up my skincare game. I’ll admit that I get very lazy with cleansing my face. Now that I’m in my 30s, I’m starting to realize the importance of taking care of the skin. This eye cream is probably the thing that I’m most excited to test out.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment- This item I have been wanting to try out for at least the last year. YouTubers all over the world are raving about this and am so happy that I can finally try this out. I’m not sure which one I’m more excited about trying out this or the Clinique eye cream. I will definitely post an update on how this works out for me.

Sephora Colorful Cheek Ink Gel in Peony- Trying out more Sephora brand items has been on my list for awhile now, and I’ve been bored with the blushes I currently have. Because this is a gel formula, I’m thinking that this will be great for a light, natural, dewy look for the summer months.

Lastly, there is the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien. I already have a deluxe sample of this item. I love this shade and formula. I’m going to pass this on to my sister, because I don’t need 2 of these.

That’s all that came in my April Play! box. If you want a review or first impression on any of these items, let me know in the comments. Have a great week!

Fall/Winter Empties Part 2

Hello lovelies! Part 2 of my fall and winter empties is made up of mostly beauty, hair, and skin/body care. Some of these items I used up completely and others are just so old that it was time to toss.

IMG_1193

First of all, I finally used up an Aussie Instant freeze hairspray. I won’t be repurchasing this. It left my hair crunchy and when I used it when I curled my hair the curl did not hold. Anyone have suggestions for a good lightweight hairspray that actually helps hold a curl?

Dr. Scholl’s for her Foot Softening Cream- I liked this but it had a weird scent. I had this for so long that I didn’t use it up. I won’t be repurchasing this any time soon. It help my dry feet but I feel like there is something better out there.

Soap and Glory Hand Food Cream- Love this! The scent reminds me of when you first walk into a Lush store. I love it! I will eventually repurchase this when I use up more lotions.

I went through 3 bottles of the One a day chocolate brownie bite vitamins. I have another bottle. I’ve been slacking on taking my daily vitamins and trying to get better at that.

TreeHut Body Scrub in Tropical Mango- I love this scent and it works and exfoliates well. This was my second small size of it and I repurchased the full size already.

Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion- I love Aveeno lotions. I find them to be great and moisturizing without leaving a film on the skin. I repurchased a different formula in a pump bottle.

Neutrogena eye makeup remover- This works well, doesn’t irritate my eyes, and I’ve already repurchased another bottle.

The Dove line of deodorants are amazing for day to day use. I really liked this go sleeveless formula. I have 2 other Dove deodorants that I’m currently using and plan on going back to this formula.

Klorane oat milk and Batiste dry shampoo- This is the second travel size of this that I’ve used up. This works well and doesn’t leave a cast on my hair. The Batiste dry shampoo, I like it but sometimes I feel that it just doesn’t work well with my hair. I’m trying to stay away from dry shampoos for now so I won’t be repurchasing either one of these.

The following three mascaras, I have one that I will eventually repurchase and two that I’m going to pass on. The one that I will definitely repurchase once I’m off of a mascara purchasing ban is the Clinique bottom lash mascara. I love, love, love this mascara!!! When I originally got this I didn’t use this all that much and unfortunately kind of wasted my money. I did use it quite a bit but it did get very old and should not put it near my eyes. The Ulta Amped Lashes, I liked this. It is an ok mascara but I won’t repurchase this. The staying power is ok, it does not last all day on my lashes. It is a pretty good everyday mascara. The NYC Showtime mascara, I did a first impression/review on this a long while ago. It’s not my favorite and I tried to use it up but I found that it irritated my eyes. This was one that I did not use up and definitely will not be repurchasing this.

I used up an entire bottle of the Nailtiques cuticle and nail treatment oil. I LOVE this!! I already repurchased another bottle of this. When I remember to use this, it practically gets rid of my dry cuticles, and saved them through the rough winter months.

I used up 2 sample of the fair trade foot lotion from Lush. Someone please remind me to go buy the full size of this. This completely helps my dry feet. The color of it reminds me of Pepto Bismal and the smell isn’t offensive but it is different.

Last but not least is a sample of the Dr. Jart BB Beauty Balm, kind of redundant I know. The shade of this is a tiny bit too dark for my skin, but I absolutely love this! My skin never looked so healthy in my life. I got 2 uses out of this little packet, which I was impressed by. This has an spf of 45 so I really want to try it out during the summer months and see how it holds up in the heat.

Well that is all that I have used up in the last 6-8 months. What I didn’t include was the five 3-wick Bath and Body Works candles that I have burned through. What have you been using up? What should I try out next? I hope you enjoyed this little adventure through my trash. Have a great day!

Fall/Winter Empties! Part 1

Hello lovelies! Spring is now in full swing. I’ve somewhat have put myself on a spending ban since about Christmas. I had way too many things and not enough space. I became overwhelmed and made it my mission to use up items that I have including samples. Over the course of the last 5 months or so, I’ve accumulated quite a bit of trash. I’m going to cut right to everything that has been used up. I’ll let you know if I liked it or not and if I would repurchase it.

Biotrue contact solution- Contact necessity, but I love it. Already using another bottle

Clinique Moisture Surge- I loved using these 2 little samples. I was able to get 3 uses out of each packet. I will eventually purchase this.

Equate Nail Polish Remover- This works pretty well on almost every nail polish formula. Already using the same brand but different formula.

Victoria’s Secret Body Wash in Pure Seduction- I loved this scent but I won’t be repurchasing any time soon. I have about 6-8 more bottles of body wash that I need to use up first.

Simple Cleansing and Exfoliating Wipes- I loved both of these!! The exfoliating I can use to “clean” my face when I need something quick. I repurchased a double pack of the cleansing formulation already!

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Balm- Loved the flavor, but I found that it didn’t moisturize my lips very well. It tasted good, though! I won’t repurchase this.

Mary Kay Clearproof Acne Treatment Gel- Love this stuff! It works! I’m working on my 4th bottle and have 2 backups.

Sally Hansen Brow Shapers- Here’s a little TMI, I have a little more than some peach fuzz on my face. I use these for near my temples, upper lip and cheeks and jaw line. I used to use a hair removal cream but over time my skin was getting burned and my acne was becoming worse. These razors have been a lifesaver! And it takes so much less time!

The last two items are face masks. I am trying to get better at taking care of my skin. I’ve started a new decade in my life and it’s time to start taking better care of my skin. The cucumber peel off mask, was strange at peeling off but it did help a bit with my skin. It looked clearer, brighter and smoother. I was able to get 2 uses out of the mask.

The Freeman Charcoal and Black Sugar Mask- I used this strictly in my t-zone area; across my nose, upper, lip and chin. I loved this!! This definitely helped with my blackhead and peeling situation on my nose.

Now that I’ve reached this point in my post I realized that this has gotten very long. I will show you the rest of my empties in another post or two.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ve gone through over the last few months. More of my empties are coming soon! Have a great hump day!
