This or That? Get to Know Me!

Hi ladies! I was scrolling through my reader and came across the Would You Rather post on Life, Beauty, Books, and Love page. I thought it was a different take on get to know me type post.

  1. Watch, Star Wars, or Star Trek?
Star Wars! My brother would kill me if I said Star Trek.
  2. Read on a Kindle or paperback book?
Paperback. I’m on the run a lot so my Kindle has been my lifesaver. I tend to read 2-3 books at a time.
  3. Go to a play or musical?
How about be in a musical!? I love musicals. I’m currently in rehearsals for one.
  4. Go to the theater or a movie?
I prefer going to the theater. I find that most of the time there aren’t many movies that I’ve been willing to shell out the $12 to see a 2 1/2 hour movie
  5. Hike or bike?
Hike! I had a bike accident when I was younger, and I tend to get a little anxiety when I do ride around my neighborhood.
  6. Wear jeans or chinos?  Jeans! I’m almost always wearing jeans.
  7. Have a Margarita or Pina Colada?
Margaritas!!! It’s always a good time when there are margaritas!
  8. Drink a glass of Guinness or Fat Tire?
Don’t like either of them. I prefer 312 or Blue Moon.
  9. Crash with friends or stay in a hotel?
I think it depends on the occasion. Hotel stays, not always the budget friendly option, but are great.
  10. Visit Europe or Mexico?
Europe! I have only been to Greece and I would love to see more of Europe.
  11. Vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why?
Hawaii for sure! I can’t stand being cold.
  12. Go skiing or snowshoeing?
I haven’t done either, but I have always wanted to try skiing.
  13. Travel by plane, train, or automobile?
I don’t mind traveling by plane or car. I love a good road trip somewhere. Taking a trip via train is next on my list.
  14. Enjoy a houseboat or speed boat?
Probably a houseboat. I get a little seasick on boats
  15. Go climbing or zip lining?
Zip lining, looks like a fun thing to try
  16. Go to a comedy club or dance club?
Comedy club! I’m not a big dance club person.
  17. Have a night out or evening in?
An evening in.  I’d much rather be chilling on the couch than out the entire night.
  18. Watch TV or read a book?
Most of the time I’m watching tv or its on in the background. When I have the time to focus on a book, I’m reading for hours.
  19. Go canoeing or waterskiing?
Canoeing for sure, I’m a little too nervous to waterski. It looks like fun though!
  20. Camp in an RV or stay in a tent?
I would try both at least once. I hate bugs and things that crawl, but I would still try it out at least once.
  21. Use Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook, I tend to forget that I have a twitter account.
  22. Choose a free trip or money?
Free Trip! I love to travel and don’t do it enough.
  23. Win the lottery or find your perfect job? Win the Lottery!!! Although I would still keep a job, just because you win the lottery doesn’t mean you’ll have that money forever.
  24. Swim in a pool or the ocean?
Pool!! The ocean scares me a bit. I do go in up to my knees because it is a cool experience.
  25. Travel by sailboat or cruise ship?
Cruise ship, I said before I get sea sick a bit. I’m definitely planning on going on a cruise in the next couple of years.
  26. Watch sports or play sports?
Both!! I love to play some sports and other sports I’d much rather sit and watch.
  27. Play dodgeball or kickball?
Dodgeball! I’m not the greatest at it but it is still fun to play!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little bit better. This was fun for me to do! If you do it let me know! I’d love to see your answers. Have a great week and see you on the next post! =)

Mini Target Haul

Hi ladies! Today I’m sharing with you a few items that I purchased from Target the other day. With summer quickly approaching, and realizing I have quite a few beach days planned already, I realized I don’t have a swim suit that actually fits. So I made a mad dash to my computer and did some online window shopping. I haven’t bought a new bathing suit in quite a few years. I have been wearing old ones from years ago. I won’t say how long because it is actually embarrassing. Going into my search I knew I wanted something that fit well and had some kind of support in the chest area. I had always disliked the suits that had the under wire visible, but was actually considering it. I was also looking for a good deal. While I don’t mind spending more than necessary on an item that is actually worth it, I love a good deal. Knowing that I was going to purchase at least two suits I didn’t want to spend more than $40-$50 on each. I decided to head to Target’s website. They have a TON of options that were cute and fashionable for those of us that are a bit larger. After spending quite some time looking at the different sites and Target’s I had settled on 4 or 5 different suits. At this point I knew I was above my budget and I didn’t feel like it was necessary to purchase that many only to have to return a couple of them or all of them if they didn’t fit properly. Off to Target I went to try on swimsuits, something that I’ve dreaded for as long as I can remember.

After spending probably a good half hour in the dressing rooms because I found more options in store that I liked than online, these were the three that I chose. The first suit is displayed as a strapless (so much for the supportive suit idea, I know), it did include straps. I found the ruching on the sides to be flattering on the body. There is also plenty of coverage in the back as well. I love the print and colors on this one, it’s not just your black with a print on it suit. The second purple suit, while I love the color and simplicity of this one, it accentuated my stomach area, which is what I want to hide! By the way there is actually coverage in the back. It looks like it has a skimpy back which it does not; just the way I laid it out and didn’t realize it until now. Ooops! While I love it, I really don’t like how it looks on me and considering returning it. The last one, looks like the typical, large gal, wants to wear black but have a “stylish” pattern on it suit. When I tried this on, I didn’t find it to be the case. Yes, it’s black and white but I think with the more updated flower print on it doesn’t make it too “old-lady” looking. This suit like the first one has ruching on both sides, also having the slimming effect. The two suits on the outside ends are my favorite and the one in the middle while I love the color and the simplicity of it may be going back to the store.

When I purchased the suits Target had a sale going on of 15% off all swimwear. Each suit full price was in the $35-$40 range, which I think is a pretty good deal these days. Originally setting out on my swimsuit adventure I was expecting to pay almost double per suit, I’m extremely happy for Target. Yay for finding good quality, priced well suits! Total I spent about $110 for all three. I found a fantastic suit elsewhere that wasn’t offering a promotion or had a sale going on and it was $90! While I loved it, my wallet wasn’t going to love it. So for a little more, I didn’t get just one but three fantastic suits.

As a side note, if any of you have not noticed but Target has a plus-size clothing line. While I hate the term plus-size, I feel that the collection that Target has released is fantastic! It’s not all big frumpy sweaters or shirts that go down to my knees (I’m 5’4″ and have that problem occasionally.) The items are stylish and good quality for the price. Before I forget the line is called Ava and Viv. There is something for everyone in the collection. There maxi dress and skirts, cute lacy tops, flowy tops, jeans, leggings, and something that I was super excited about finding, jean shorts! Yes I was excited about jean shorts. I haven’t bought a pair since I was maybe in high school or junior high, which was over 10 years ago. If you’d like to see a post on them I’d be glad to share my experience trying them on and the way they fit.

It seems that I have gotten quite carried away with my excitement for new swimsuits and summer that I will end this now. Have a fantastic week ladies! Summer is 3 weeks away!

This is not a sponsored post. I just really love Target.

Decisions, Decisions…

Hey lovelies! I hope that you all had a wonderful and festive Memorial Day weekend. I’ve been doing some thinking about my next post as well as my posting schedule. Tackling my next post has been not necessarily difficult, but unsure of how I would like to take you through my make up collection clear out. Would you like for me to do the entire collection all at once or my category? Let me know!

As far as my posting schedule, I would like to be posting twice a week. I had started out posting on Monday and Wednesday. The next month or so it will change. I will post for sure once a week, on Wednesdays. I have been way too busy to really focus and put out two great posts a week. I want to put out great material and not just post something just because it is a certain day of the week.

My next post will be me clearing out my make up collection. It may be up sometime this week or next week. It will be the last post of my Spring Cleaning Series. What would you like me to do next? Haul? Review? First Impressions?

Cleaning Out the Closet

As I tackled cleaning out my closet, I had a little bit of a problem. I realized that about 8 months ago I had gone through my closet, and I was brutal. So I knew going into this I wasn’t going to have another 3 bags of clothes to give away. I ended up with about a garbage bag full of clothes plus the very filled bag of shoes that I will be giving away on Thursday. I will be taking you through my process I went through when going through my clothes.

1. I pulled out only a section at a time so I wouldn’t get overwhelmed.

2. I tried on each individual piece that I own with the exception of a few items that I have just wore in the last 2 weeks.

I then asked myself, a few questions as I looked at myself in the mirror.

1. Does it fit?

2. Do I think I look good in it?

3. Is it in good condition or has it seen better days?

The last few thoughts I have before making my decision and it’s an important one ladies…..

4. Do I like this piece of clothing?

5. Have I worn this item in the last year?

6. Will I wear this in the next year?

I have to be this brutal because I tend to “hoard” my clothes. I’ll hold onto things from college and high school. Now, I do have some things from way back then, but I do actually wear them.

That is all ladies! There will be only a couple more posts in the Spring Cleaning Series. What would you like to see as the next series? What will you like to see me talk about next? I welcome any suggestions. Have a great rest of the week!

Kick Off Your Shoes

Hey ladies! I apologize for my absence. Life got a little crazy and things got put on hold. Today we are talking about shoes! What gal doesn’t love shoes?! Growing up I was strictly a gym shoes girl. Towards the end of high school and all through college, I was all about comfort and heels. Complete opposites I know. Now, living in the adult world, where I’m working, trying to stay healthy and active, and appreciate an afternoon nap every once in awhile, I need to re-evaluate the shoes that I have.  I’ll take you through my thought process and what I did as I decided what shoes I will keep and the what I’ll kick to the curb (sorry couldn’t help myself).

1. Do I like them?

2. Are they practical for my current day-to-day life?

3. Will I actually wear them in the next year?

4. Do they fit? (actually fit and walk in them and won’t cause too many blisters)

5. Are they in good condition?

BEFORE: Every pair that I own.
BEFORE: Every pair that I own.

Those were the questions that I repeatedly asked myself as I went through my collection. My goal was to get almost all of my shoes onto the white or boot rack. There are a few that won’t fit which will be stored on the floor of my closet, which is completely fine by me. As I’ve said in previous posts, I’ve lost a lot of storage space. I was extremely brutal when it came to my shoes. I actually got rid of 2 pairs that I would like to keep, but know that I probably won’t be wearing them any time soon.

AFTER: The shoes I chose to keep.
AFTER: The shoes I chose to keep.

I kept the shoes that I wear all the time or that I know I will be wearing in the coming months. Another good reason why I chose to go through my shoes at this point in the Spring Cleaning Series is that I did purchase a few new pairs of shoes and didn’t have anywhere to put them. I hope that enjoyed taking a look through my shoes. Do you need to go through your shoes? DO IT! Now is the time! After you do share your pictures! What would you like to see me clean out next? Let me know!
