August Favorites!

Today I am sharing with you my August favorites. These few items I have used constantly through out the month. For my birthday at the end of July, I received a Sephora gift card and I picked up a few items and haven’t put them down since!

Aug Faves2015

The Beauty Blender has by far been the greatest thing I picked up. I was previously using one that I got from Target. The Beauty Blender blows that one out of the water. I can’t believe I waited so long to get this. I apologize for it being dirty. I used it this morning totally forgetting I had to photograph it.

I don’t know about you girls, but liquid liner and winged out liner has always been difficult for me. I picked up the Kat Von D ink tattoo liner. I couldn’t be more impressed with it. It is a nice dark, matte black, and it stays all day!

The Revlon Nearly Naked foundation is something that I’ve talked about before on here, so I won’t go too in depth with it. It’s light and provides just enough coverage to smooth everything out.

The Benefit They’re Real Mascara, I think will always be a favorite of mine. Building this up provides a fantastic glam look. However in the past month I’ve managed to learn how to accentuate my lashes while keeping it as natural looking as possible.

Maybelline Master Brow Drama, I have used so much on my easy natural days. I love the way it just plump up my brows just a tiny bit and overall look put together.

Yes, I have included my Tide To-Go stick. This thing has saved me on more than one occasion. I was out eating lunch with my friend, and I was wearing a brand new shirt. I had a major eating fail. Now while it doesn’t immediately remove the stain which is not the sole purpose of this product but when I finally got home and was able to wash my shirt there was no more stain! Such a lifesaver!

My last favorite for the month is Butter London’s nail polish in Champers. I love, love, love this color!! Every time I took it off to change my color I just kept putting it back on. I have easily worn this for the last four or five weeks straight!

I hope that you enjoyed my favorites. I know I put them up a little late. As many of you know, life happens and tends to get in the way of certain things. Have a fabulous rest of the week!

4th of July Favorites!!!

Hi gals! With 4th of July just around the corner, I though I’d share some of my favorite things. Food, fashion, beauty, and my favorite way to sit and watch the fireworks! There is something magical about 4th of July, but then again I feel that way any holiday that includes fireworks as part of the festivities.

I do want to first point out the reason why we celebrate this great day and not forget the history behind it. The short version of the history lesson is that on July 2, 1776 during the American Revolution. The United States of America was 13 colonies, whom declared independence from Great Britain. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed. We now honor these 13 colonies with the 13 stripes on the United States of America flag. While our modern day celebrations of this holiday are along the lines of picnics, barbecues, fireworks, etc., it is a bit far off of the original festivities. Early on 13 gun shots in the morning and evenings were shot to celebrate the 13 colonies.

Now that we got our history lesson in for the day, on to the modern day favorites that we will be indulging in this weekend.

Fashion and Beauty

When it comes to my fashion and beauty for the days festivities, I like to keep it light and simple, and since I am in the Windy City, something that is easily adaptable for unsuspecting weather changes. I keep to jeans or jean shorts, and a tee for during the day, adding a light sweater or hoodie in the evening if necessary. Also if my activities for the day include lounging in a pool, then I will have my swimsuit, cover up and towel. Beauty wise I keep it real simple, sunscreen, a tiny bit of eyeliner and mascara and lip gloss. I want to look put together but to be honest in 90+ degree temperature nothing is going to be staying on your face.

Food and Beverages

I don’t know about you but when it comes to summer time barbecues and picnics, I’m always looking for to the food. Barbecue flavored anything is my favorite! Pulled pork, meatballs, ribs…yummmmm! Hot dogs, burgers, mac and cheese, fruit salad, and apple pie. I could probably list every single thing I’ve eaten ever during a 4th of July party but I will refrain from doing that. For those of you who are 21 and over, I really like having a 312, Blue Moon or a margarita. I’m not really into the whole hard liquor mixed beverage thing during outdoor parties. I would like to stress the one point of, staying hydrated. As someone that doesn’t always handle heat very well, I can’t say this enough. Drink water! Not only will it keep you hydrated, it is also good for your skin, organs; well you’re entire body really. If you don’t like just plain ol’ water, flavor it!. Keep in the red, white and blue theme and add, blueberries, raspberries and/or strawberries. Another great and hydrating option is cucumber water. I know we have all heard the water lecture, but I really can’t stress it enough. The last non-alcoholic beverage option which is great is iced tea. Unsweetened, Sweetened, fruit flavored, it’s great, tasty and will also keep you hydrated as well. Here’s a little trivia for you. Did you know when you drink a caffeinated beverage or alcohol you need to drink 3 times the amount of water to ‘cancel’ it out to keep you probably hydrated?

The last but certainly not least, my most favorite thing about 4th of July….the fireworks! Fireworks have always been my favorite thing. It can be 100 degrees outside, drizzling, buggy, there is just something about fireworks that gives me a nostalgic feeling. I just can never get enough of watching fireworks. In the area where I live, if I stay home I can sit in my backyard with some sort of beverage in comfy clothes and just enjoy the magic. I suddenly have the urge to visit Disney right now. I’m leaving it at that because I can definitely  go on forever about Disney and their fireworks.

That is all for my Fourth of July favorites. What are your plans for the holiday weekend? Are you staying in or going out with friends some where? Attending barbecues, picnics, or parties? Please share! I would love to hear about it.

Have a fun and safe 4th of July! See you all next week!

June Favorites!

Hi lovelies! Here and there I briefly mentioned that I do community theater and recently was in a show. Most of my favorites for the month have been the items I used for the show. My makeup had to withstand heat, stage lights, sweat, costume changes and most importantly last through all of it! I should point out one little thing, I played both a guy and a girl throughout the entire show.

June Faves

I’m going to to in the order in which I used each product.

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer

Mary Kay Medium Coverage Foundation in Beige 400- when on stage you don’t want to go with your normal foundation shade. Stage lighting is extremely bright and more often than not make you look ghostly white.

Rimmel Natural Bronzer in 021 Sun Light- I used this to blend out the foundation around the perimeter of my face and down my neck.

Nars Bronzer in Laguna- I used this on my cheeks and where the sun would hit my face.

NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liner in Perversion- I used this only for tight lining.

L’Oreal Lash Out Butterfly Mascara in Black- This ran out in the middle of putting my make up on, on opening night!

Ulta Amped Lashes in Jet Black- This was a lifesaver! I was able to easily build this up to match my other eye that was already done with the L’Oreal mascara.

Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey

For the Girl portion of the show:

Nars blush in Orgasm

To take the layers of make up off I used the Alba Botanica Hawaiian 3-in-1 clean towelettes. It is a 3-in-1 wipe that can be used to remove makeup, cleanser, and a toner all in 1.

I hope that you enjoyed my June favorites. What have been some of your favorites this past month?

April Favorites

Hello friends!! Today I’m sharing my favorites. These are the few items that I’ve reached for almost every single day. They make me feel put together without putting on a full face on make up. It takes less than 5 minutes to put my fave together.

AprilFaves

First up is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in #25 Bad to the Bronze. This product has been out for a few years now, and has easily become my go to easy eye look. I have also used it as a base under powder eye shadows for a more glam look.

The Buxom Full On Lip Creme in White Russian. Some people have a love-hate relationship with this product. The love part is the color and texture. The hate is the menthol, tingly feeling. I, however, I love the minty, tingly feeling. The texture is light, and the color is natural looking. It often ends up in my purse as my go to lip product or my oops I forgot to grab a lip gloss.

The Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter is my new favorite! I have it in the shade 230 fair/light. I’ve tried quite a few concealers for under the eye and this is by far the best one I’ve come across. It doesn’t crease and the texture is light and creamy.

Last but not least, my favorite, all time, holy grail, drugstore mascara. The L’Oreal Lash Out Butterfly mascara in Black is fantastic! It is not too wet and not too dry of a formula. I like that it doesn’t clump. What I love about this product is that it lengthens my lashes and slightly thicken them up. I like to say it has a natural glam effect on my lashes.

Hope you enjoyed my monthly favorites. On Monday, I will start my spring cleaning series. Have a great weekend!
