Sephora and Drugstore Haul

Hi Ladies! So today I wasn’t planning on doing a haul post but I made a few small purchases over the course of the last month or so, and I thought why not share what I’ve gotten. I have used a couple of these items so far and immediately loved them! Plus I got a surprise early birthday gift, which I’ll save for last.

From the drugstore I got four lip products. I was on the hunt for the perfect lighter pinky brown nude, and a pinky nude lip liner. After looking around and researching a bit I went with the cult favorite Eastend Snob by Rimmel. I love it! For me, it is a my lips but pinker shade. On a low key day I’ll use this and a lip gloss. The next three I got were lipsticks from the Maybelline Colorsensational line, two from the purples collection and one from the red collection. From the red collection I got #615 Summer Sunset. It is a darker version of what I was looking for but I still loved the color in the bullet. The first from the purple collection is #420 Blissful Berry which is absolutely gorgeous! It is a great color for fall and can totally work when transitioning from winter to spring. In the tube it does look darker than what will actually come out on your lips but it is still a gorgeous purple berry shade. The second shade (spoiler alert: I love it!) #450 Mauve Mania is the shade that I’ve been looking for!! I’ve been pairing it with Rimmel’s Eastend Snob for a longer wearing look.

From Sephora, I made two different purchases. The first time I stopped into Sephora, I decided to walk in and see what was new and to see if I can find a great bright lipgloss. After roaming around the store and swatching different shades and brands, I settled on the Make Up For Ever Artist Flexi-Gloss. I had narrowed my choices down to two different pink shades. One that could be worn everyday and one that is definitely a statement. I went to pick up a Sephora brand eye mask, the pomegranate one, which I accidentally used before I took the photo, oops! I was talking to one of the lovely gals that worked there and another one stopped by to comment on the shades that I had swatched on my hand. They definitely convinced (not in the pushy you have to buy this way) to step out of my comfort zone and I went with the brighter  shade in 209. It definitely compliments my fair skin tone and is definitely a statement color. Now that I’ve gone off track a bit back to the haul! The second purchase I just made online last week and got it in three days! Can I just say that I love how quickly I get my Sephora orders. I purchased the Sephora Favorites Ultimate Hair Essentials and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector by Jaclyn Hill in Champagne Pop. I’ve been a little bored with my hair products lately, and after cutting almost a foot off of my hair about 6 weeks ago I felt like I needed a change. The kit comes with 11 different “travel sized” products which most I can’t wait to try out and a couple I haven’t really heard about. When it comes to Champagne Pop, I just can’t wait to use it. When I saw a few of my favorite different YouTubers, all different skin tones, I felt like this could actually work for me. After I use it for awhile I will let you know how I like it. I also picked up my birthday gift the two Nars Lip Pencils (really excited about Cruella!) as well as another promotion of 12 samples of different hair care products and treatments (mostly oils and hair masks). I also chose to get the 3 free samples you get with every purchase. I definitely love making an order during the month of July because it feels like Christmas.

Now on to my surprise, early birthday gift. My birthday is at the end of July. I have been really busy the last week or two and getting everything done was a bit overwhelming. My mom and sister were going out of town for the weekend, and they just came back last night, but that left me with watching my sister’s dog and 2 cats that my brother left when he moved out. So the night before they left, my sister gave me my gift from her dog. Madden gave me the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette. I definitely have been wanting to get the palette but I’m more the type of person to wait after the hype dies down to really look into a product and decide if I need it and will actually use it or if I’m just going through a phase. This is also why I was a bit reluctant to get the Jaclyn Hill skin perfector and it is also a limited edition item. I did justify that with I only use a tiny bit at a time and it will last me forever. The things we say to ourselves when it comes to purchasing makeup.

I hope you enjoyed my little haul. What have you been eyeing drugstore or high end? Do you have any recommendations or want a review on any of these items? Let me know! I hope you all have a great week and see you in my next post!

Hair Product Purge

Today we’re talking about hair. Now ladies, we all want those long luscious locks. I don’t have any secrets to get your hair long and healthy but I do have rather long hair. However while the long locks look great it is a bit much to keep up with.  I like to keep my hair routine pretty simple and while I’ve accumulated some products over the past few years. Frankly I don’t need everything that I have, so time to purge! About 2 years ago I had done my first clear out of hair products ever. So this is pretty much what I kept from then with a couple of additions.

A few things to keep in mind when going through your hair products. This includes your shampoos and conditioners. I just have a couple of “backups” with these items so you will only see those and not what I’m using in the shower (they are the same thing).

Before:

Before-Hair Purge

The following are a few things I kept in mind:

  1. Is it old/expired? (yes your hair products can expire)
  2. Do I even like the product?
  3. Does it work? (believe me I’ve held onto items thinking I can get them to work)
  4. Do I find it useful still?

After:

After-Hair Purge

As you can see it seems like I didn’t get rid of much. I mainly got rid of the items that don’t work for me at all or have expired.  Like I said in a previous post, this Spring Cleaning Series was spurred by me moving rooms in my house. Another important fact is that my style is slowly changing. I’m finding that an easy, simple hair routine is what works for me, and I don’t need styling products taking up cabinet space.

If you want a review of any of the products that I’m keeping or tossing even let me know!
