Maybelline Colossal Chaotic Mascara Review

Hi all! I know that I just did a mascara review last week, but I couldn’t wait to share my thoughts on the Maybelline Colossal Chaotic Mascara. I purchased it in the waterproof version. This product has been out for awhile now, but am now just getting around to testing it out. I am going to quickly list the things that I liked about this product and the things that I don’t. I will also let you know if I will repurchase this or not.

Formula- just wet enough, but that is all I liked about it

Brush- shape is easy to get inner and outer corner lashes

Color- very pigmented and black

Application- applies easily but can’t be layered too much

Clumps- For myself, it clumps and volumizes but it doesn’t look very nice.

Messy- this gets all over my lids when applying, I’m still using it and it some how ended up on my cheek!

Wear- After awhile it does flake a bit. I notice little black flecks around my eyes.

Sensitivity- irritates my eyes on occasion, happens when it flakes

For me, I am not a fan of this product. While I do like the shape of the brush and the consistency of it, it is not my absolute favorite formula. I am also going to try with a lengthening or a lighter everyday mascara first and then layer this on top and see how it affects the wear. This may be your favorite, but it is not mine, and that’s ok! I’m here to share my opinion on different things. I love that different things work for different people and when the same things work for different people, that’s awesome too! Have you tried this mascara out? What are your thoughts? I would like to hear them! Have any tips on how to apply without it getting all over your face? ┬áRating: 5/10

Fall Lip Colors

Today I’m sharing with you some of my favorite fall lip colors. While I love the look of deep dark berries, reds, and purples, it tends to give me what I like to call the Snow White effect. I say that because my hair is dark, pale skin and light eyes. It isn’t my favorite look, but every once in awhile I change things up a bit. Anyways, on to my fall picks. From lightest to darkest:

Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya 027

Urban Decay in Naked

Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Natural in N9

L’Oreal Colour Riche in Berry Exciting 203

Maybelline ColorSensational in Blissful Berry 410

Maybelline ColorSensational Mattes in Untainted Spice 950

Left to Right: Juicy Papaya, Naked, N9, Berry Exciting, Blissful Berry, Untainted Spice

Those are my current fall favorite lip colors! What are your favorites? Which ones should I try? What is your favorite brand and formula? Have a great afternoon!

Mani Monday: Fall Nail Polishes

This week’s post is all about some of my favorite fall nail colors. I’ve chosen a variety of shades, some may not be expected. However, I feel like if you want to have bright neon nails and it is November go for it! If you want to wear a deep berry tone in July, why not?

  1. Rimmel Lasting Pro Finish in Steel Grey(270)- I love this shade because it is a purple-y toned grey.
  2. O.P.I in Brisbane Bronze- I love this shade because it is the perfect shade for fall. It’s also great for a special occasion and of course a little extra sparkle.
  3. CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant in Sapphire Flare(307)- First I love this formula! The color is a gorgeous deep, not quite navy blue. It is a creme formula and looks classy and elegant on the nail.
  4. Essie in Berry Naughty- I love this brown toned berry. It’s gorgeous for fall and winter. I like this more in the fall because it is the stepping stone for the richer toned reds and berrys that come with the holiday territory.
  5. Essie in The Girls Are Out- Yes, I have included a pinky purpley shade in the group. While it is on the brighter side, I think the creme with just a hint of shimmer in it is perfect for a fall day. It is not a traditional shade, but it is fun for exactly the name of the color, a girls night out!
  6. CoverGirl Glossy Days glosstini in #ElectroGlow(660)- This is the traffic cone orange from a previous Mani Monday post. I love the formula, plus the color is the epitome of fall.

Those are my picks for this fall. What are some of your favorite fall shades? Do you have a favorite formula/brand? Share them below! I would love to hear!

5K Experience

Hi all! I apologize for yesterday’s post coming today. This post is a little bit different from what I have been doing. I thought it would be a good idea to share with you my experience. I have done a couple of 5Ks in the past but they were more of fun rather than for time. However, I did always try my best and push myself to get the fastest time that I could.

Early yesterday morning, two of my coworkers and I headed to downtown Chicago. We took part in the Hot Chocolate 5K. First we went to sleep extremely late because all three of us worked the night before. Also, because we were driving into the city, we left extremely early to ensure we had a parking spot and have plenty of time to warm up.

4:30AM Time to hit the road!

4:30AM Time to hit the road!

One thing we didn’t plan for was how cold it was! It was much colder throughout the morning before we took off at the starting line. We spent the time dancing around to music, talking with fellow runners, and of course taking a few selfies.

Sunrise! Still 32 degrees!

15 minutes from the starting line!

The race is a course, not a running laps race. I enjoyed the course. We really got to see the city in a different way, from jogging through part of Lower Wacker Drive to Michigan Ave. It was such a cool and awesome experience. I highly suggest if the Hot Chocolate race comes to a city near you, you should do it! The water station, was about two blocks long, with water, lemonade, and gatorade. Volunteers were also handing out chocolate pieces. What a treat in the middle of the run!

We finished!

We finished!

Now my friends and I ran on our own and met up near where the post-race party was going on. What was nice was that we finished within 5 minutes of each other. We weren’t waiting on each other that long. Just past the finish line, volunteers were handing out bottles of water for all the runners. I thought that was a nice “treat” as we were walking and cooling down. There was also plenty of space after the finish line for everyone to slow down and walk before entering the post party area. The post party had of course the chocolate mug/bowl of goodness, a few vendors, jumpy houses and a few other activities.

Yum! Hot Chocolate, Chocolate Fondue and other goodies!

I have to say overall, the race was fantastic. The energy from everyone was amazing. The race was put together well and organized. Another important piece of information, plenty of port-o-potties! =)

I hope you enjoyed this post. My Mani Monday post will also be up later today! Happy Monday!

5 Minute Face

I don’t know about you, but I have days where the alarm doesn’t off, slept in or just simply running late. Here is what I do, when I have to get ready quickly and still look put together.

  1. Foundation/Concealer- I use one or both depending on where I’m heading to. I don’t focus too much on making sure spots are completely covered or not.
  2. Mascara- Whether you choose a drugstore or high end option. Whatever works for you!
  3. Lip gloss- You may have to re-apply throughout the day, but for a little color I don’t have a problem with it. If you’re not a fan of lip gloss, a tinted lip balm is a great option!

If you have a few more minutes, add blush or a pale shimmery shadow. I hope you enjoyed my version of a quick “5 minute” face. Have a great day!

October Favorites

Welcome to my October favorites! October was a pretty busy month for me. I was very quick and simple with my routine. I have a few items that I want to share, that were easy to make myself feel a little more put together.

You’ve seen me mention the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. It naturally evens out my skin tone, while it doesn’t always cover up blemishes or scars, I am happy with the coverage. It also doesn’t cake up or wear off throughout the day.

My Nars duo with Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer, is by far my holy grail product. I have put quite a dent into Laguna, I’m about to hit pan. I am excited about that because I’ve never hit pan on anything before! Orgasm blush, I think looks great on everyone and for myself works for almost every occasion!

Now this next product isn’t part of my everyday quick look, but it has quickly become almost a staple for when I want to bump up my look just a bit. I’m talking about the Becca higlighter by Jaclyn Hill in Champagne Pop. I’ve used it as a highlighter and as an eye shadow. It is just the perfect all around color and multi-use product.

For a quick and easy lip option, I’m a big fan of lip glosses. I probably own more than one person needs to own all in a similar shade of a nude-ish pink. My two favorites this month are the NYX’s Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee, and Rimmel’s new Oh My Gloss! in 160 Stay My Rose. They are both very different. Creme Brulee is a creamy, lightly moisturizing and fairly opaque. I can easily put this on without a mirror and not worry about it ending up all over my face. The Rimmel, is still a newer product that I own. It is a on the sheer side, but I absolutely love this color!

The last two products have been game changers for me. The first is the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. While I have only used this a handful of times, I can tell that it definitely works. The biggest test with this was a friends wedding. My makeup looked almost perfect at the end of a long night of dancing. The second product is by Nailtiques. It is their oil therapy. It is a nail and cuticle oil. I’ll be the first to admit that I get lazy with putting lotion on my hands and taking care of my cuticles. With winter just around the corner, this has saved my nails and cuticles for the last year. Just after using it 2-3 times in one has transformed and improved my cuticles. This ranges between $9-$10, which for purchasing this well over a year ago, I think is a pretty good deal. I think If I were to use this a couple of times a day, everyday I would probably purchase two bottles a year. I don’t know about you but $20 a year for great and healthy cuticles is pretty darn good. An additional plus is that it smells great too!

Those are my October favorites. I hope that you enjoyed today’s post. What have you been loving? Please share!! Have a great weekend!!

NYC Showtime Mascara Review

The last week or so I have been putting NYC’s Showtime mascara to the test. I picked up the waterproof and volumizing formula, in 844 Extreme Black. It claims to “immediately thickens lashes up to 5 times, last all day and easy to remove.”

My first impression was that there was hardly any product on the wand. It is definitely a very dry formula. While it’s a drier formula it is creamy. Not much product comes out on the wand and it does not clump. The claims that is thickens lashes, I believe is false. This product is a very good natural, every day mascara. I would say it is also good and inexpensive option for a young girl just getting into makeup.

Does this product live up to the claims on the package? No.
